Social Media all is about:
1- Presence (your business/products/services)
2- Content
3- Engage
Still there is no accurate formula to calculate ROI (Return On Investment) born in social media, because social media is all about presence not for direct sales, you've to engage your target audience with your unique & generic content on the basis of Ish-Rule 80/20. 80% content about them and 20% content about.
It is not just that you create your Facebook Business Page, Timeline Cover Image and start posting your status updates, picture/images and URLs. You also need to engage your target audience with your personal profile, be human not just robots. As Google stated in their Guidelines that you've to create your content for the users, not for the search engines. So, according to experts in the social media experts it is all about "Engage".
If you go to Social Media Examiner Facebook Page or Mari Smith's Facebook Page and checkout both pages wall, observe that how they are engaging their audience with their expertise and how they are driving traffic to their site, even without including a single word that "purchase my book/product" to learn more...
There are some social CRMs that provides in-depth analytics like: Sprout Social, Radian-6, HootSuite etc... But, no one will give you to the point answer as you asked me above "Goals & Results" or Return on Investment.
