Link building is an important part of the SEOprocess. Inbound links are what conveys trust to the search engines. It’s important to be associated with the
right websites in order to convey the right story. Not all links are created
equal, just like all websites aren’t created equal.
Here
a few indicators of a bad website to avoid at all costs,
Grammar
Errors
If you come across a blog and find a spelling error,
maybe it shouldn’t be dismissed immediately.
However, if you notice many spelling/grammar errors or if the text just
doesn’t read properly it was probably created by an overseas content writer
that’s just churning out content and spinning articles.
Too
Many Keywords
Keywords should be implemented naturally into content for SEO purposes, but if there are too many they stick out and ruin the visitor experience. This is also something that Google will pick up on and will penalize a site accordingly.
No
Design/Visual Elements
A website or blog that is boring (uses a free theme, no logo, nothing that catches the eye) it could be a spam site. If you can’t find a business or brand associated with the page, it’s probably just part of a link farm network.
Strange
URL
If you are searching for sites relevant to your niche, the URL should in some way indicate that it is related.
Content
Topics Are All Over the Place
Is one post about gardening? The next about filing your taxes? And the next about how to remove dog hair from your couch? If so, you’ve probably found a link network site which is a primary target of the new Google algorithm update.
No
Social Element
If you own a website or a blog you know how important it is to get others to share your work with their networks. If you stumble upon a blog that doesn’t include any social sharing elements, it’s clear that it’s owned by someone that doesn’t care.
